Description
Landscape Abstract Art – ‘Cornish Bay’ by Sophia Persephone
Sophia Persephone is a great lover of landscape abstract art and finds elements of the natural world subconsciously feed her work.
As with all her abstract paintings, this one started with no specific idea in mind, however, as it developed, the idea of a seaside bay – particularly a Cornish bay – came to the fore.
Drawing on her memories of holidays in Cornwall in the UK to complete the painting, the artist played with rhythm and dynamic marks to suggest the idea of water.
She juxtaposed yellows and purples to create a vibrant composition, complementing the traditional seascape blues. Sophia built the painting in layers, working and re-working it until she was satisfied with the composition. She used artist grade acrylics for the majority of the work, bringing in caran d’ache crayons for texture and interest. Sophia draws the eye around the painting with strategically placed red and orange elements.
This painting would look great on the wall of a lover of landscape abstract art, perhaps in a hallway to add a pop of colour.
Size: 50cm x 40cm, sold unframed.
