Spiritual awakening is a profoundly transformative journey, often accompanied by a range of physical signs. Understanding these “10 physical symptoms of spiritual awakening” can help you navigate your path more comfortably. In this article I reveal the 10 most common physical signs of spiritual awakening and how to manage them.
Physical Sign #1: Disrupted Sleep Pattern
One of the most noticeable physical symptoms of spiritual awakening is disrupted sleep.
You might find yourself waking up during the night, particularly between 3 AM and 5AM.
Why It Happens
In the early hours of the morning, the ‘veil’ between the lower and higher dimensions is at its thinnest.
When you’re awakening, you’re more sensitive to activity in the higher dimensions, and this can disrupt your sleep during these hours.
It’s also a time when it’s easier for you to connect to your guides and receive messages, so your team may wake you up so they can communicate with you.
Or they might wake you up so you can recall the dream you just had.
How to Manage It
Embrace the Opportunity to Connect:
If you wake in the early hours, first record the dream you were having in a dream diary.
Then meditate to see if any messages come through.
In early awakening, often our biggest breakthroughs come during these kinds of sessions.
Catch up on Sleep During the Day:
During early awakening, our teams often arrange for us to have more time available to focus on our journey.
If you have the opportunity to nap during the day, take it.
In fact, if you schedule your snooze for around 3PM, you may find that you receive additional messages from your team.
Physical Sign #2: Extreme Fatigue or Energetic Highs and Lows
People in early awakening, particularly ‘pre-conscious’ awakening, often go through an extended period of extreme fatigue.
(Pre-conscious awakening just means before you’ve had your spiritual epiphany.)
In fact, this physical sign of spiritual awakening is so common that I would go so far as to say everyone experiences it at some point.
Later in awakening, especially during the Connection phase, you may find your energy levels bounce between being very low and being extremely high.
Why It Happens
We experience extreme fatigue during very early awakening for a couple of reasons.
First, our teams need us to sleep because they’re healing and upgrading us while we’re offline, typically without us being aware.
Second, we’re being prepared for conscious awakening and that means ideally we wouldn’t be working a full-time job.
It’s not uncommon for awakeners to experience a sudden, mysterious onset of a debilitating illness prior to their epiphany, which miraculously disappears later in awakening when their healing and upgrade is complete.
It’s designed to take us out of everyday 3D life so we can focus on our spiritual journey.
The energetic highs and lows we experience later in awakening arrive because our chakras are opening up and clearing out blockages.
This causes the rushes of energy.
However, we still need to rest and heal, so our team makes sure we have downtime too.
How to Manage It
Go With the Flow:
Listen to your body and rest when you need to, no matter the time of day.
If you need to opt out of day to day life for a while, do so, and don’t feel guilty about it.
Trust the Process:
When we start experiencing debilitating fatigue it can be very worrying.
I went from being an active person with a busy job to needing to sleep up to 16 hours a day.
We wonder if it will always be like this. Don’t worry, it won’t.
While extreme fatigue can last a long time during awakening, it does reset, and eventually you’ll find you have more energy than ever.
Help the Healing Process Along:
You can speed up the healing process by using spiritual protocols such as chakra healing through sound and light, gentle walks in nature, and practices such as acupuncture and reiki.
Physical Sign #3: Ringing or Buzzing in the Ears
Ringing or buzzing in the ears, or hearing high-pitched frequencies is one of the most common physical symptoms of spiritual awakening.
It usually starts in early awakening and intensifies after our epiphany.
By the end of awakening it’s almost completely disappeared.
Why It Happens
There are two things going on here.
First, your vibrational rate is increasing dramatically and you start vibrating faster than your surroundings.
This causes a kind of ‘energetic dissonance’ which results in buzzing or ringing.
Second, you’re picking up vibrations from discarnate entities in the vicinity.
These can be your guides, well-wishers, deceased family members, or just entities passing through.
Our guides often use a quick tone in the ear to signal ‘that’s right’ or ‘pay attention to this’.
How to Manage It
Get a Medical Check:
Just because ringing or buzzing ears is a very common physical symptom of awakening doesn’t mean there’s not a medical condition behind it.
Always get persistent ear ringing checked by a doctor, just in case.
Turn the Sound Down:
We have a lot more influence over what goes on in our system than we sometimes realise.
If the noise is too loud or distracting, you can ask your guides to turn it down.
You can also visualize yourself turning a volume dial down to zero.
Physical Sign #4: Body Aches and Pains
Spiritual awakening can manifest as unexplained aches and pains, particularly in areas associated with energy centers, such as the neck, back, and shoulders.
Why It Happens
This reflects the healing process you’re unconsciously going through.
Your body is releasing stored tension, toxins, and energy blockages.
Meanwhile, you’re experiencing enhanced energetic flow through the chakras which can cause these types of aches and pains until your physical system adjusts.
You can literally think of this symptom of awakening as ‘growing pains’ – you’re growing spiritually.
How to Manage It
Regular Stretching:
Build gentle stretching, pilates, or (best of all) yoga into your daily routine to help ease the discomfort and release energetic blocks.
Hot Baths:
Regular baths with Epsom salts will soothe muscle aches and pains.
Physical Sign #5: Changes in Food Preferences or Dietary Intolerances
It’s extremely common during early awakening to find we have sudden cravings for or aversions towards certain foods.
Similarly, we might experience digestive upsets.
Why It Happens
Our team is unconsciously guiding us towards a more ‘spiritual’ diet.
What we eat has an enormous impact on our ability to connect and ascend.
During awakening, we often find we can no longer tolerate meat or dairy (for example) and are drawn to healthier food choices.
In turn this can cause temporary disruption to our digestive system as our body adjusts to our new way of eating.
We may also experience digestive upset as the solar plexus chakra starts to unblock as part of the healing process.

How to Manage It
Follow the Signs:
Trust your system and eat the things you feel drawn to, while avoiding the ones which are causing upset.
Give Yourself a Break:
It’s hard to follow a ‘perfect’ diet all the time, at least when you’re starting out, so feel free to follow the 80-20 rule: be good 80 percent of the time, and allow yourself treats the other 20 percent.
Hydrate:
Water is hugely beneficial to us, so drink plenty of filtered water and herbal tea throughout the day to keep your digestive system in good order.
Physical Sign #6: Changes in Weight
Unexpected weight gain or loss can occur during awakening.
Why It Happens
Weight loss can come as a consequence of our changing diet or adopting new fasting protocols.
It’s beneficial to lose excess weight during awakening to relieve the burden on the physical body and allow the ‘light body’ to shine through.
Weight gain is usually linked to anxiety in the lower mind.
Shifts in consciousness can be disorienting for the ego, which may stimulate us to eat more in an attempt to ‘anchor us down’.
How to Manage It
Talk to Your Ego:
If you’re gaining weight, talk to your ego/inner child to reassure it that you’re not in danger. Ask it to reduce your hunger signals and allow you to lose weight, if you feel you need to
Eat Mindfully:
Eat only when hungry and eat slowly to allow your brain time to register when you’re full.
Explore Fasting Protocols:
If you want to reverse weight gain, (sensible) fasting is a great way to drop a few pounds and also has huge spiritual benefits.
Physical Sign #7: Sensitivity to Light and Sound
Increased sensitivity to light and sound is common during spiritual awakening.
Bright lights and loud noises may become overwhelming.
You may also find you can only listen to slow, gentle music.
Why It Happens
As your energetic flow and vibrational rate increase, you become profoundly sensitive to the frequencies around you, and of course light and sound are frequencies.

Even previously very sociable people can become hermits during this ‘isolation’ phase.

Give Yourself Permission to Withdraw:
If you can’t tolerate external stimuli, stay home and don’t feel guilty about it.
Create a Calm Environment:
In your own home or room, where you have the control, create an environment which gives you the gentleness you need.
Wear Sunglasses:
Protect your eyes from harsh sunlight when you go outside.
Physical Sign #8: Changes in the Skin
You might experience skin changes such as rashes, acne, eczema, or itching.
This can occur in different places around the face and body.
Why It Happens
As part of the healing process, your body is expelling toxins which naturally affects your skin’s health temporarily.
These kind of skin changes can also reflect activity in specific chakras, depending where you’re experiencing them.
How to Manage It
Gentle Skincare:
Use natural, gentle, organic skincare products daily.
Stay Hydrated:
Drinking water helps to flush out toxins and keep your skin healthy.
Focus on Chakra Health:
Work out which chakra could be cause the changes in your skin and use protocols to enhance healing in this energetic centre.
For example, you can use guided meditations and sound and light healing to focus on a particular chakra, or wear the color and eat the foods associated with that energy center.

Physical Sign #9: Headaches and Pressure in the Head
As part of the healing process, your body is expelling toxins which naturally affects your skin’s health temporarily.
These kind of skin changes can also reflect activity in specific chakras, depending where you’re experiencing them.
Why It Happens
This kind of pressure can occur for the same reason we get ringing in the ears – it’s a sign of energetic dissonance.
It can also be an expression of third eye chakra activity as it progressively opens through the awakening journey.
Also, our lower mind can experience discomfort as our consciousness starts to ascend; sometimes it signals this by inducing headaches.
How to Manage It
Avoid Headache Medications:
Unless your headache is really unbearable, it’s best to avoid headache medications and use natural remedies, such as lavender or peppermint oil.
Massage the oil into your temples, third eye, and the back of the neck.
Breathwork:
Breathing exercises are a great way to relieve headaches as they increase the flow of oxygen to the brain and help the system relax, relieving the anxiety in the lower mind.
Yoga:
Specific yoga exercises to relieve headaches can be very effective.
Physical Sign #10: Tingling Sensations
Tingling in the hands, feet, or other parts of the body is common during spiritual awakening.
Why It Happens
This sensation is often associated with the activation and opening of energy channels and chakras.
We’re experiencing increased flow through the energetic system which stimulates the nerve endings in the physical system.
How to Manage It
Choose to Enjoy it!:
This tingling isn’t always unpleasant and it’s a nice reminder of the journey we’re on.
You can choose to relax and enjoy it.
Energy Healing:
If it’s really bothering you, practices like reiki and acupuncture can relieve tingling sensations.
