‘Portrait of a Girl’ – Sophia Persephone – Original Oil Painting
Original portrait, created in oils on panel.
This was supposed to be a practice piece for my appearance on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year in 2024, the subject was taken from a stock photo.
When I started to paint, I felt a strong urge to use non-realistic colours.
The painting has a real feel of Henri Matisse (and is reminiscent of ‘The Green Stripe‘).
I can’t say for sure that I was channeling Matisse while making this painting, but it wouldn’t surprise me as I’ve worked with him on other paintings, and there are hints of his style.
40x30cm, sold unframed.
